For the Love of Texas

Ginger Chambers
Contemporary Romance
Book 9 of West Texas Series (sort of)

"You didn't just hatch from an egg!"

The Parker ranch is home to many a love story all in some way connected to the Parker family and Aunt Mae.  Well, that's how Tanner Reid feels - only somewhat connected.  When his father married a woman who had previously married into the family the connection was tenuous at best.  When Aunt Mae disapproved of the match, the tie was nearly severed.  But his half-brother Tate asks him to come help modernize the ranch records, it comes with good timing in his life.  But the Parker ranch gets knocked on end when the family realizes that Aunt Mae has hired a live-in nurse.  Claire has never had a family and despite her career as a nurse, has no intention of getting attached.  But it's hard with this wonderfully caring and rambling family.  Not to mention the very handsome Tanner Reid.  Perhaps there is more to this opportunity than meets the eye.

My Opinion: This seems to be the last book in a series (most are out of print now).  I have read one of the other books in the series and I am not sure how well I would have followed this one without having read it.  Though that one was in the middle too and was fine.  Anyway, this was a good read, though a bit on the light side for romance.  Much of it focused on the family and tying up lose ends.  It seemed to be the resolution of a good series.  Claire is a great character who has never had a family to call her own - unlike the Parkers who have more than they know what to do with.  Tanner has never really felt a part of the Parkers and is lost now with the pain of his best friends' death.  It was a good book and I'm sure was a nice ending to the series, but it didn't seem like much of a romance on its own.

I received a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and opinion are 100% my own.
