The Guise of a Gentleman

The Guise of a GentlemanDonna Hatch
Regency Romance
Book 2 in The Rogue Hearts Series

"His favorite manner of passing the time did not involve standing in his skin while a man with pins in his mouth measured, tucked and poked."

Elise is happy being a widow.  She has her son to take care of, an estate to manage and isn't missing a thing.  At least that's what she thinks until she meets Jared Amesbury.  There is something about his that is alluring and exciting.  Despite her attempts to the contrary she can't stay away.  Jared should stay away.  His life of pretending and piracy is almost at an end and he can't afford to be distracted.  But love isn't always convenient and he can't stay away.  But when his disreputable past threatens to track him down, will he prove to be a danger to her after all?  And will she be able to love him if she knew the truth?

My Opinion: This book was fantastic!  I think I liked it even better than the first one.  Jared is a wonderful and full character.  Elise is sweet and brave and everything you could want in a heroine.  The action and adventure pull you along, keeping you enthralled through every twist and turn.  The side characters are full and fun, making the world of piracy come to life.  Jared and Elise's love is realistic, sweet and powerful.  I got so caught up in the story that my heart pounded, tears filled my eyes and I just wanted to reach over and kiss my husband as I read it.  I also liked seeing more of the other brothers come to life.  I'm not sure whose story I am most looking forward to reading next - can't wait for the next one!

I received a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and opinion are 100% my own.
