Kay Springsteen
Contemporary Romance

"She was well aware of his eyes on her as they crossed her front yard and injected a slight sway into her stride that she hoped looked more like a demonstration of feminine wiles and less like the sway-backed walk of an old mare."

Lina doesn't date co-workers.  Things get complicated.  But everything about Kevin intrigues her - especially when she ends up kidnapped on a hot air balloon with him.  Okay, kidnapped is a little strong, but it certainly wasn't voluntary.  Their attraction is strong and hard to overlook, even though Lina still believes in her rule.  But life is about to get a whole lot more complicated for Lina.  Kevin has been attracted to Lina for some time, but just barely got the courage to try anything.  But their whirlwind romance might hit the brakes when unexpected news hits Lina.  Can they work together towards a future, or will life get too complicated?

My Opinion: This was a very high-emotion book.  There are great scenes with romance, good quirks and some great action scenes.  It is very well-written and intense.  Lina is a woman obviously still dealing with grief and has little mothering instinct or sense of what she wants.  She kind of drifts through most of the book which personally annoyed me.  Not that she's a bad character, I just had a hard time associating with her character.  Kevin was a great, confident and almost overpowering character that is that great larger-than-life hero you want.  Their interplay seems a little sudden, but certainly jumps right in with great pace and well put together scenes.  This was a good book I'd recommend.

I was given a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.

  1. I'm really happy I found your blog. I'm always looking for new CLEAN romance novels. I love them. I browsed through a lot of your reviews and picked a couple to read. I have an all time favorite CLEAN romance auther and I didn't see that you had read any of her books. Check out Marcia Mcclure. I especially love Shackles of Honor, Crimson Frost and Heavenly Surrender.

  2. I'm always searching for CLEAN romance novels and I am so excited to find your blog. I'm reading and taking notes of all the great clean romance authors you are mentioning here. I have one more to add: Cruel Seduction by Elizabeth Herst.
