Caskets and Corruption

Cindy A Christiansen
Contemporary Romance

"His mind spun with the rapid fury of a tornado. Ideas, bad ideas, shuffled through his mind like shuffling a deck of cards."

Lizzie is done with dealing with death.  Her career painting portraits of deceased loved ones is one she is desperately trying to get out of.  But when her sister is fired from the mortuary by the incredibly handsome Philip Van Dyke, she braves the mortuary to confront him.  But they are both faced with something they didn't expect - military corruption and smuggled drugs in a casket.  Fleeing from those who would kill them to keep their illegal secrets safe, Lizzie and Philip set out to stay alive and see justice done.  Can they reconcile their own differences along the way?  Perhaps they can find a new life after all.

My Opinion: This was a fun, lighthearted read with a lot of action and adventure.  The characters were fun with good depth and great personalities.  Philip was a strong and noble character while Lizzie has great quirks.  Although the plot sometimes seemed a bit outrageous with how much could go wrong, it was well done.  There was a bit of talk of death and grief, but it was surprisingly not depressing and was well written.  The romance was sweet and strong, though quick.  Altogether it was a fun read that will keep you guessing and laughing.  I'd recommend it.

I received a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.
