Balancing Act

Patricia Davids
Contemporary Romance

"I've always wondered why cowboys wore bandannas, now I know.  They're great for first aid."

Cheryl has no intention of ever facing the demons of her past, happy with her life as a budding ballerina.  Her family, her reputation, her time in jail....they were all behind her.  Until her sister asks her make an effort to go back.  Cursing herself, Cheryl finds herself traveling through her old stomping ground.  A freak accident lands her injured in a snowstorm - and at the mercy of the hospitality of Sam Hardin.  Sam is wary of women since his wife's betrayal.  He has two little girls to take care of - he can't let them get hurt again.  But Cheryl is worming her way into his heart, despite the fact that he knows she's not telling him everything.  Will their pasts pull them apart, or can they find a way to trust each other?

My Opinion: This was a cute, fun read that I really enjoyed.  Building off of a basic idea of being stranded, the author was able to pull in aspects of the characters' past and present to create a pleasantly complicated plot.  The characters had enough depth to be interesting and understandable.  Cheryl and Sam have a cute interplay between them.  The romance is sweet and light and has your heart wrenching along with theirs.  Side characters fill the story in nicely and made me wonder if the author ever wrote out stories for the others.  The pace was good with some exciting points and good conflicts.  Altogether it was an enjoyable read and definitely a cute story.

I received a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.
