Late To The Wedding
"A room organized like a group of people avoiding each other at a party."
Evelyn Chase is over her ex-fiance. Mostly. But when she finds an old letter he wrote to her after he left, maybe things didn't end as cleanly as she thought. He wrote that he still loved her and didn't want to be with anyone else. When Evelyn looks him up again, she finds out that he's getting married....in a few days! But what about the letter? With an impulsive decision, Evelyn decides to take off and travel down to find Jared before he can get married and settle for a woman she doesn't think he could possibly love. But karma seems stacked against her. With the help of stranger Brian, she slowly makes her way to the wedding and her ex. But will they make it in time - and what will she want by the time she gets there?
My Opinion: This was a fun, light read. The series of events is almost comical in the bad luck that Evelyn runs into on her trip. The characters were good and even the side characters were fun, though shallow. With so much going on there wasn't much time for anything but the events. Evelyn is the most developed character and yet there are times when I feel like I've barely gotten to know her. Brian is changeable - seeming to constantly be what the scene calls for rather than a strong and consistent character that goes through each event. Their romance is implied and cute though not really the focus. I did like the message behind the book and found myself laughing at a few parts. A good chick-lit book to take on vacation, but not one I'd pick up when I'm in the mood for a good romantic pick-me-up.
I received a free copy of this book to review. No other compensation was given. The summary and review are 100% my own.
