Book One in the Mind Reader Series
"Had some wacko poisoned my box of bran flakes cereal?"
Kylie has always been your normal, straight-A student, raised by her widower dad. But when she can suddenly read minds from touching someone's hand, things start getting weird. Not only that, but it seems there are secrets her dad hasn't told her. A lot of secrets. When he asks her to help the police find a missing girl, Kylie is thrown into the middle of much more than she bargained for. As truths start to unravel, it seems everyone has been lying to her. Except perhaps for Trip Williams, wanna-be cop and assistant to the detective on the case. Trip wants to get to the bottom of this case just as much as Kylie. But is working together all they want from each other?
My Opinion: This was an intense and wonderful book. Well made characters give life to the story and bring you into everything that Kylie is feeling. She is a good teenager - full of angst, blooming maturity and not a lot of thinking before acting. Trip is a great character, though a bit mysterious and unexplained. Their romance is exciting and enough to get your heart pumping and your toes curled. The author tells the story with a good amount of witty remarks and humor to get you through it, always keeping you in the teenage mind of Kylie. The whole story is fast paced and full of excitement. Though a bit confusing at times, it leaves a lot open for the next book. I can't wait to read the next one. Definitely one I'd recommend.
I received a free copy of this book to review. No other compensation was given. The summary and review are 100% my own.
