Dead Running

Cami Checketts
Contemporary Romance

"I really wished I were one of those girls who wore makeup to the gym...or at least brushed my teeth and put on deodorant."

Cassie is only running this 5k to appease her sister-in-law.  Her pregnant sister-in-law who is kicking her butt.  But at the end of the race she finds that she has won an entry to the St George marathon.  Marathon - as in 26.2 miles.  No one thinks she can do it, which seems to be the only reason she wants to.  That, and the very handsome Damon who has offered to train with her.  Oh, and the delectable Jesse who seems to be showing up just when she needs help.  Which seems to be happening a lot more often since scary guys have started following her.  Could there be more to her family's tragic past than she knew?  And could it be putting her in danger now?  With her life changing around her, who should she trust - who should she let herself fall for?

My Opinion: This was a wonderfully written book that makes you laugh while keeping you on the edge of your seat.  Cassie is a fun character full of witty charm that keeps up throughout the book and makes you relate to her and her challenges.  Damon and Jesse are both wonderfully created characters with both appeal and mystery.  The romance is tantalizing and will make you cheer for your favorite.  The various other characters are well made and fill in the story line well.  The danger and excitement is off-set by her struggles to train for a marathon and keep it light and exhilarating at the same time.  Very realistic and fun, even to a non-runner like me.  This is a great read and one I would highly recommend.

I received a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.
