"Though his speech patter confused her with a unique blend of Shakespeare and Yoda, she knew the meaning of 'slay you'."

Still dealing with the death of her husband two years earlier, Jessica Neale attempts to get away from it all with a trip to England.  On the way she meets a handsome medieval studies professor who sticks in her mind more than he should.  But when she follows his advice and visits the ruins of an old castle, her life will never be the same.  Because Jessica not only travels to the castle, but back in time.  Meeting Colwyn dressed as a knight of old is just the beginning of Jessica's adventures.  Thrown into a world of war, loyalties, black magic and perhaps a second chance at love, she has to find a way home, but what if she can't?  What if she's stuck in the past with these people of Gallimore castle?  Where should she put her faith?

My Opinion:  This was an excellent book.  The story was gripping and compelling, pulling the reader along through fantastical time-travel as well as very realistic issues of love and death.  The author manages to use death and faith as a crux of the story without being depressing.  In fact, it was quite uplifting.  Colwyn is a great character that shows wonderful growth and appealing quirks.  Jessica is a strong character, slowly growing in life and faith.  Their chemistry is great.  I loved the romance and adventure of this story.  A little bittersweet in theme, but overall a wonderful book I would recommend.

I was given a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.

  1. I don't like the word "bittersweet". That always means they don't end up together. Nicolas Sparks is notorious for it. I don't want to be crying at the end!!
