"There comes a point when you realize your life is more important than how stupid you look."

Claire is obsessed with the Twilight books.  Nothing in her mind would be better than to find her own Edward - and she doesn't mean a great guy, but an actual sparkly vampire.  So when she is invited to Seattle, Washington for the summer, she can't wait.  And much to Claire's excitement, she just might have found herself a vampire....if she can prove it.  But how does one prove that someone is a vampire without completely freaking them out?  As Claire starts to fall for Tony, she starts to realize that though he has a secret, it might not be superhuman strength and sparkles.  And perhaps reality can be better than a silly old book.

My Opinion: This was a fabulous second installment of the series and a wonderfully enjoyable book.  The author does a wonderful job creating likable modern versions of classic characters.  I'll admit to never having read the original, but it was still good and with a quick wikipedia summary I was able to catch most of the plot and character correlations.  Claire is wonderfully funny and silly.  Tony is sweet and almost larger than life.  And I must say, comparing Stephanie Meyer to Ann Radcliffe is simply genius!  I was laughing through the whole book, loving the Twilight jibes.  This is a great book and a must-read for any Austen fan, whether you read the original or not.  I can't wait to see what this author does with her next four books!

I received a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.

  1. Oh - sounds like a good one. I will check it out.

  2. That does sounds like a great book. Just what I love, Jane Austen and Twilight. I see it's available on ebook but does anybody know if any bookstores in AZ carry this book and the first one? I looked at Barnes and Noble and it says out of stock. I think I might want to read these as part of a book-club. Thanks for the review.

    1. Hi Julie. I have a ton of fans from Arizona since that's where I grew up. I know if the bookstores doesn't have them in, you can have them order it and it should be there within a week or so. Same thing with ordering online.

Let me know if your book club would like to skype me. It'd be fun.

    2. Jenni, that would be a great idea to skype with you during the book club. I love this whole idea. I can't wait to read them all.

  3. Thank you! What a fun review! :) Jenni
