Highland Sorcerer: a Highland Sorcery novel

"These were not wounds of the stubbed-my-toe variety."

For Charity, magic is a normal way of life.  She, like generations of her family, are healers.  But still, it's a bit surprising to have an injured - and naked - sorcerer appear in her kitchen.  But he's no ordinary sorcerer, Toren is from the past.  He has come to the future looking for a respite from the torture he is going through.  If he could have this small strengthening and healing, he knows he can be strong for his people.  Toren doesn't count on the connection Charity will feel for him, or the lengths she may go to try to help him.  Will she be able to save this mysterious man, or will he be able to save his people and the world from the powerful clutches of a witch?

My Opinion: Although not the best writing, this story is captivating and exciting enough to draw you in.  The excitement and intensity of the storyline is almost addictive.  A short read, it packs a lot of information and action while not bogging you down too much.  Charity is a strong character driven by both her connection to Toren and her innate need to heal.  Toren has the weight of the world on his shoulders and is torn between what he needs to do and what he wants.  Their romance is deep and simple at the same time.  I would have loved this book to be twice as long, but I guess I'll have to be satisfied knowing there will be more installments in the series.

I received a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.
