Savage Winter

Rachel Van Dyken
Fantasy Romance
E-Book
Book 1 of Seasons of Paleo

"Kaden always told me that two tears were the sign of weakness, but one tear...one was allowed."

Kyle's world ended the day Kaden was taken.  They were both taken.  He was destined for death while she was destined for marriage.  Kyle knew her duty to marry the Prince of the East.  But it doesn't matter since her heart seemed to stop beating when they had killed Kaden.  Now, faced with an unwanted marriage, Kyle is placed in the care of Aiden, the prince's servant and now her Royal Protector.  But there is something about Aiden that reminds her that her heart, though broken, is not gone.  Not that there can be a future for her and Aiden any more than there could have been one for her and Kaden.

My Opinion: This was a fantastically good book.  I loved everything about it except the length - I wanted it to just keep going and tell me more.  Kyle is a strong character who is put through a lot.  Aiden is a wonderful character that I liked more and more with every turn of the page.  The romance was deep and sweet and pulled at my heartstrings.  Though I felt like it was a tad bit predictable and would have benefited from perhaps a little more action or explanation throughout, it was an incredibly impressive book and one I will go back to read again.  I can't wait for the second book to come out.

I was given a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and  review are 100% my own.
