Journey to Almighty

"Figures.  A cop.  The attitude is a dead giveaway."

Michele Ramirez has been messing up her life for the past ten years.  Not a good track record considering she was only twenty-four now.  But now she was pregnant, and she wasn't going to give up her baby no matter what her violent, drug-dealing boyfriend said.  When Cam's objections land her in the hospital, Michele is thrown into the life of David Matthews, a detective trying to put Cam away for life.  Helping David would be a dangerous game Michele isn't sure she can afford to play.  But can she afford not to?  Especially when David seems to want to help her, despite her past.  And his father seems determined to find a way to bring her to Christ.  Can she find hope and redemption and a future worth living even despite her past?

My Opinion: Though this story had a lot of potential and play with the plot, I felt like it got a bit bogged down with a couple of sermons stuck in the middle on religion, forgiveness and a how-to guide on becoming born-again.  The characters were good and had some fun interplay.  David didn't have a lot of spunk, but he was solid and stable.  Michele, I kept imagining as younger than she was, had a good development as she matured and changed through the book.  A bit of missed potential, the plot was still fun and had some good excitement, even if the chemistry was on low-heat.  All in all, a strongly focused Christian book with some action and romance thrown in.

I received a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.
