"He pronounced it rah-ley, like didn't realize my name had no 'a' in it."

Riley Drake refuses to believe her brother had gone crazy and blown up the plant in La Foudre Parish.  It just didn't make sense, despite the fact that he had been there and all evidence pointed to him.  Riley felt like there was more to it, and her reporter instincts had kicked in.  She knew no one would be happy to see her in the small bayou town, but it's a little worse than that.  Even Sheriff Jake Ayers, who she thought had liked her, wants her out of town.  But Riley is determined to find the truth.  Jake can't believe Riley would come back and stir things up again.  The town was just starting to heal.  Despite Jake's personal feelings, it would be better for all involved if she just left.  But what if she's right?  What if her brother wasn't the one behind this?  Is finding the truth worth the risk to her, the town, and his heart?

My Opinion: This was a wonderfully exciting book with great characters and an intriguing mystery.  The mystery involved in unraveling the story kept me on my toes.  Various good characters filled in the small town feel and really set the stage and backdrop for the story.  Riley is a strong character with spunk and personality while still showing a vulnerable side.  Jake is a practice in balancing love and duty.  Though it felt like a bit of their relationship was either in another book or perhaps simply something I missed, the romance grew and developed well.  Exciting with a bit of high-strung emotions, this is definitely one to put on your list.

I received a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.
