Petie McCarty
Contemporary Romace

"If she lived through the next two days and his attitude didn't improve, she may very well slug him on general principles."

Kayli Heddon loves being a photographer.  And what better than being able to photograph the beautiful everglades while helping the governer be re-elected.  What she doesn't expect is her guide - an infuriating but handsome man.  A man who would be perfect if he actually liked her and would listen to orders.  She's the one in charge here, after all.  Things aren't improved when Kayli's ex-boyfriend shows up to join their little excursion.  But things, and people, are never quite all they seem.  And when dangers begin to lurk in the swamps, things could heat up in more than one way.

My Opinion: This was a fun and exciting read.  The drawn out mystery was nicely set against the backdrop of the everglades with a bit of folklore mixed in.  Nice side characters filled in a rich story for the main characters to interact within.  Kayli is a fun, spunky character with a nice mix of vulnerability and independence.  Skye is a strong character that develops well.  Their romance is really sweet despite the excitement and dangers surrounding them.  This mystery kept me going along on every page, and wanting the characters to find a way to be safe, and be together.

I received a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.
