The Taming of Lady Kate

G.G. Vandagriff
Regency Romance
Book 2 of Series
The Duke's Undoing, The Taming of Lady Kate

"If a kiss is not forthcoming, coffee will do."

Kate Derramore has one goal in get married.  But not because she's in love, or wants a title.  No, Lady Kate wants her inheritance and guardianship of her younger brother.  Jack, Marquis of Northbrooke, has the same reasons for seeking matrimony.  So what could possibly go wrong with a scheme to throw them together?  It seems perfect to Kate, aside from the fact that Jack seems to have a secret he's keeping from her and everybody else.  But more worrisome is why she should care.  She just wants to marry for her inheritance, right?  Jack meant to marry for convenience, but one look at Lady Kate convinced him that love was a worthier goal - and much more complicated than he had thought.

My Opinion: This was a cute taste of regency romance and adventure.  Though a bit choppy at times, the story was engaging and interesting.  The romance between the main characters was fun and volatile.  Kate was a mix of cold-blooded calculation and the giddy actions of a woman falling in love.  Jack was a noble character, though a bit hot-headed.  The story took a little while to attain a smoothness of transition, but it pulled you along and got you caught up in the adventure of it all.  A fun story, though I could have wished for a little more polish.

I received a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.
