An Heiress at Heart

Jennifer Delamere
Regency Romance

"He was stunned as the thought came, unbidden, that he, too, might follow those eyes halfway around theworld and not regret it."

After five years in exile, Lizzie Poole is returning to England.  But not as herself.  Fulfilling the dying wish of her best friend, Ria, Lizzie has taken on her friend's life - aiming to make right what her friend would not live to reconcile.  But she didn't anticipate that living another person's life would be so difficult - or full of so many complications.  Like the ever so handsome Geoffrey Somerville, Ria's brother-in-law.  Geoffrey didn't expect to see his brother's widow, scarcely able to convince himself his long-lost brother was actually dead.  But who is this woman, and why is he finding himself attracted towards a woman he can never have?  Scandal is something both of their families have had enough of - and nothing will induce him to embroil them in more.  Right?

My Opinion: This was a cute and sweet romance that I really enjoyed.  With great emotional turmoil and realistic characters, the story pulled you in.  It was a little predictable in my opinion, but had such a flirty flair to it that it was a great read.  Lizzie is fun a brave and caught up in a tangled web of lies and loyalty.  Geoffrey is a great and life-like character.  The story shows an ever-growing understanding of what true compassion and love can do.  Great side characters fleshed out the story and perhaps left openings for related sequels - maybe?  Overall a great read with a great flavor to it.  I highly recommend it.
