For Love of Sarah

Hazel Statham
Regency Romance

"Just what is this need females have to leave notes?"

It's been five years and Alexander, Earl of Thorne, is certain he is over his wife's desertion...isn't he?  Just because he still tends to scan the crowds for signs of her dear face, doesn't mean he hasn't moved on, right?  But when his normal scan reveals Sarah's features in a crowd in Yorkshire, he is involved in an accident that leaves him once again unable to follow his wife.  Sarah has been hiding her secret and herself from her husband for years. But when he is hurt in the streets of her own little village, she sees no other option but to help him.  But is she ready to tell him the truth she fled from all those years ago?  And will he leave without having it all out, once and for all?  But as they spend more and more time together, they may find that the reasons that have kept them apart may not be as important as the reasons that brought them together in the first place.

My Opinion: This was a sweet and slow romance.  The characters were well developed, even if I found Sarah to be a bit too flighty and not grounded in understandable characteristics.  Alexander is a wonderful and strong character, very much a perfect hero for a romance story.  Their romance is a sweet rekindling of something that seems to have never really died.  I found the plot, however, needed a bit more action and mystery for me.  I felt a bit let down at times, without a strong development of the mystery behind Sarah's actions.  Much of the story focused on their individual thoughts over and over with out progression or new situations to twist things up.  Overall, it was a light and fun read, but I would have liked a little more to it.

I received a free copy of this book for review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.
