Star Light Star Bright

Sydell Voeller
Contemporary Romance

"It wasn't fair he should be such a heart-stopper.  It wasn't fair he should wield such power."

Chyenna Dupres just wants a new start for herself and her daughter after her divorce.  A cute bed and breakfast in a small town seems perfect.  But the town doesn't want her coming in and changing their small town with her fancy city ways.  Especially one man in particular - who wrote a scathing article in the paper about her.  When that very man's daughter turns out to be Chyenna's daughter's new best friend, they are forced together.  Blair Westerman doesn't want anything to do with big city life to enter his or his daughter's lives again.  And not even a very attractive new neighbor is going to change his mind.  His small-town ranch has done well by him so far, and he intends to keep it that way.  Though spending time with Chyenna may play with his mind...and his heart.

My Opinion: This was a light, contemporary romance.  With a sweet but stilted romance, I felt like this one missed out on a lot of possibilities.  The plot was fairly sedate, with easily resolved conflicts and somewhat irrational behavior.  While backgrounds were well established, I didn't get drawn into their plights or opinions.  Their actions and decisions seemed to have less foundation in their characters than it did on what needed to happen next for the plot to continue.  Despite that, it was a sweet read with some easy and fun parts.  The romance, with a lot of potential problems and pitfalls, seemed a little easy for my tastes.  But it was sweet and light and an easy read.

I received a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.
