Duty: a novel of Rhynan

Rachel Rossano
Fantasy Romance
Medieval Romance

"His facial expression lightened as though discussing war were less taxing than guarding against infidelity."

Brielle Solarius has been dealing with the consequences of war and the tyrannical actions of her cousin's control of her lands and people.  But when the war ends and the new king sends a nobleman and his men to take control, Brielle is less than pleased.  Especially when such an action includes her marriage to the new Earl of Irvane.  But Brielle will do what she must to protect her people, even if her new husband doesn't act like any nobleman she's ever seen.  Tomas wasn't interested in marrying Brielle, but he'd do his duty by her and his king.  When he meets her, though, he can't decide if this duty is a curse or a blessing.  But they don't have time to dwell on that when dangers lie around every turn, even in places they least expect.  In the end, where will they find their duty lies?

My Opinion: This was another good book, with the same general feel of many other books by this author.  The romance was fun and well made.  The overall plot was interesting and pulled along the characters, their relationships and interactions.  It was a complex plot, though, which took some time to sort through in my head, but created a rich world for the story to take place in.  Though, I did feel like there were a few holes in the stories, as if there were other books and stories that I was missing (which is quite possible).  The side characters were well made and filled out the story well.  Overall, it was an enjoyable book.

I received a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.

  1. I have read Rossano's past books and really liked them. She has a way of drawing a reader right into her stories. So glad she came out with more books!
