Unlikely Dad

Sydell Voeller
Contemporary Romance

"He was well on his way to hunksville even back in high school."

Rachel Dillon just wants to run her Bed and Breakfast while raising her son.  What she doesn't need is another man in their lives, especially one who will probably walk right out of it.  So when Rachel runs into her old high school boyfriend, Chad Merrick, at a mutual friend's wedding, she wants to steer clear.  But fate, and Chad, would have it otherwise.  As time together in their small town throws them together more and more, Rachel just may find that she wants Chad to be in her life again.  And he seems interested in her, too.  But Chad isn't one to stay in one place for long.  Can she convince him to stay, or will he take her heart with him again when he leaves?

My Opinion: This was an interesting story, but I felt like it fell a little short when it came to the actual romance.  The characters were sweet, though it was hard to understand their motives for their actions.  Their relationship was cute on the surface, but their developing romance didn't seem to have any rhyme or reason to it, it simply happened and they moved along.  I was also slightly annoyed with Chad, feeling he needed to grow up as I saw no real reason for his hesitations.  The side characters were nice and I'm sure have their own stories.  Michael was my favorite character, being a cute kid and a very main side character.  Overall, it was a cute book, but was missing something for a good romance.

I received a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.
