Give us a bit of your background (where are you from, your family, traveling adventures)
I grew up in Buffalo New York and got out of the cold as soon as I could. I now live in San Antonio Texas, but I desperately miss the seasons…. We have hot and not hot here…..
Most writers are readers. What are some of the books you have on your nightstand and/or on your "must read" list?
Whenever I read, I feel guilty because I think I should spend my free time writing. However, I reread my Grace Livingston Hill collection of 100 books almost every year. Other than that, I read a few light mysteries…
What is your favorite genre to write?
I love to write Christian Romance Novellas. Most of them are old fashioned rather than contemporary. I have written one called Sheriff Bride which takes place in Waterhole Texas at a time when no girls even lived in the town.
I have written one called Lucky in Shamrock, Texas that is a Route 66 story. I have written one called Gambled Away (longer novel) which is a regency. So I am sort of all over the historical board.
But since most are novellas, I do not get heavily into the history. Just use it as the back drop for the stories.
What is one silly fact about you?
I do all my writing between 9 pm and midnight….. It’s the only time I can dedicate to writing.
Why do you choose to write clean/sweet romance? Do you write steamy romance as well?
The first clean romance I ever read where Janette Oke. From then on that is all I wanted to read or write. It felt good to read a book I did not have to skip over large portions because of the inappropriate scenes. I do not write steamy as well because I tend to stick with only Christian romance,,, and the two do not go together.
I don’t mind writing just clean romance, but most of mine tend to have a bit of prayer included.
What other things do you have planned with your writing for the rest of the year 2013?
I recently published a novel called “orphan Train Bride” which has been #1 on Amazon in the Christian Western section for a few weeks. I am writing a shorter novella called Orphan Train Belle .
I want to write a Harvey Girl novella, but before that I have a story called Unchained Love that is almost ready to go and
I want to finish a Christmas story called Snow Angel.
I plan to write a mail order bride story as well.
Do you have a favorite comment or question from a reader?
I was at a public school the other day presenting one of my children books “I don’t Want to be a pirate.” One of the children asked me, if when I wrote that book I had done my best work.
Where do your ideas come from?
I see pictures and want to write a story to go with them. I hear about different times in history, and want to put a romance story there.
Please share about your book - Sheriff Bride
Sheriff Bride is a Novella about 4 sisters who come to Waterhole Texas to fill the position that their father was suppose to fill as Sheriff. They are all excellent shots and prove themselves worthy very quickly. However, the town’s banker doesn’t think girls can take care of the town, especially not when he starts to fall in love with one of them. It’s a fun story and quick read….and I had three other writes finish up the series about the other sisters….
If you could sum your main character into five words, what would they be?
Tough, loveable, gun toting brunette
