ST Bende
Fantasy Romance
Book One of The Elsker Saga

"Nothing changed around here but the weather, and even that was freakishly consistent."

Kristia Totenson  has never done anything adventurous - until she decides to transfer to Cardiff University in Wales for her senior year.  Not only is she in a new country, with new roommates and new experiences, she meets Ull.  And Ull is anything but ordinary.  Tall, blonde, and incredibly sexy, he could be a real-life Viking.  Or perhaps have walked right out of her Norse mythology textbook.  But that's not possible, is it?  About as impossible as Kristia having a chance with a guy like that.  But then, stranger things have happened and Kristia is about to see just how strange they can get.  Is the chance at love worth the coil she may be walking into?

My Opinion: This was a fun and enjoyable romp through mythology and romance.  The author showed a thorough understanding of mythology (a must for me as an archaeologist) and was able to play with the classic characters.  The story pulled you in and through twists and turns.  There was lots of good drama, even if the events were drawn out.  Kristia is a fiesty protagonist while Ull is a broodingly protective hero.  their romance is sweet and lovely.  There were good and consistent side characters.  The story, though it jumped a bit here and there at first, left plenty of story to be tackled in the next book.  A few aspects I wished had been addressed more fully this time in order to allude to the next book, but that's probably just me.  Overall a satisfying read and one to look for the sequel.

I received a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.
