The Bargain

Christine S. Feldman
Contemporary Romance

"About the only thing that had changed was now her teeth were straighter, thanks to the hateful braces."

Shannon Mahoney has been in love with Drew Kingston since they were in high school together.  The problem is, he doesn't even know they went to high school together.  Though Shannon works for Drew now, she is just as tongue-tied around him.  Then Michael Kingston shows back up in town after years away, insisting on speaking with his brother, and distracting Shannon from the man she's always dreamed about.  When Michael can't get Drew to even listen to him, he doesn't blame him.  He burnt a lot of bridges when he left.  But he had to talk to his brother, so he enlists the help of his beautiful secretary.  If Shannon will help him get through to Michael, he'll help her get Drew to notice her.  The problem is, as he gets to know Shannon, Michael doesn't want to show her how to make Drew fall in love.  Because he is falling in love himself.

My Opinion: This was a really cute and fun romance.  There were some great, toe-curling moments.  Though the characters had enough flaws to make them realistic, they were perfectly wonderful.  Shannon has some sass and is quirky.  Michael is the repentant bad boy, sweet and kind when it counts.  They have great chemistry together.  All of the characters have wonderful interplay with each other, clearly creating and pulling you into their worlds.  There are a few good side characters to flush out the story and create some light side plots.  A very romantic story that I really enjoyed.

I received a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.

  1. The first two lines made me smile right away. Poor girl! I'm already rooting for her. Great premise!
