My Southern Bride

Kathy Carmichael
Contemporary Romance
Book 4 in Texas Two-Step Series
Chasing Charlie, Country Courtship (previously Kissing Kelli), Courting Trouble, My Southern Bride, Western Pleasure

"He needed a southern-fried bride?"

On her way to her new life, Lori Palmer gets stuck in a freak snow storm with the only one available to rescue her being her sister's brother-in-law.  Monty Joe is a rancher and has made his dislike for Lori - the old Lori - very clear.  But when push comes to shove, Lori finds herself snowed in with a reluctant host.  Monty Joe wants nothing to do with the selfish and spoiled Lori Palmer, but he'll do just about anything for his sister-in-law.  But event this might be asking too much.  What was he supposed to do with a girl with no experience living on a ranch?  As the snow piles up and more than tempers spark, this could be a recipe for disaster...or romance.

My Opinion: This was a cute story, though a little light.  The characters, both introduced in earlier books, seemed to carry on from those roots and never really re-introduced themselves.  Which would be great if I had read the series straight through, but I found myself straining to remember the details from a book I read years ago.  Their interplay was fun, and though sometimes contradictory, the overall arc eventually got where it was going.  Tori starts the book smoothly jumping off from a previous book and is in a flux trying to figure out just how to get her life started in the right direction again.  Monty Joe is a grumpy hero who delightfully finds himself confronted with a person unlike he remembered.  Not too busy, but a sweet romance.

I received a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.
