Movement of Crowns

Nadine C Keels
Medieval Romance
Fantasy Romance
Book 1 in Movement of Crowns Series
Movement of Crowns, Movement of Rings, Movement of Kings

"The astuteness in his countenance was unmistakable, and if a man could radiate a craving for a woman he’d known for less than a day, this man was doing so."

Constance is turning twenty and as heir to her father's throne, this means changes for herself and her kingdom.  But never before has there been a woman on the council.  Will it be allowed now?  Many see Constance as a way to the throne through marriage, but she isn't interested in any of them.  Or is she?  Her best friend and Captain in the army seems to be pulling at her heart like never before.  As war and marriage proposals loom, Constance must face decisions and actions that will lead her and her people into new territory.  Will she be able to keep her heart intact as well?

My Opinion: I was a bit disappointed with this one, to be honest.  I felt the story was anticlimactic.  Any scenes with real excitement, lot or character development seemed to be fast forwarded through or completely skipped over.  The characters had no real character with no definition, conflict or growth.  There was barely any romance in the story, though it may have been simply skipped over.  The story had great potential, but I was never really pulled into the story or was curious to solve the mysteries of the story.  I wasn't even upset over the many loose ends left at the end.

Note: This is labeled as both fantasy and medieval in that it is a medieval setting in a fantasy world, but there is no magic and/or mythical creatures.

I received a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.
