Author Interview: Michelle Merrill

Michellle Merill
author, Changing Fate

*Give us a bit of your background (where are you from, your family, traveling adventures)

I grew up in Utah, wentto college in Idaho and have since lived in Washington and Oregon. I’ve been to 48 states in a 15 passenger van. Hawaii and Alaska are definitely on my bucket list, but hopefully not on wheels (good thing that’s not possible)! I have the best hubby and we have five little princesses.

*What is your favorite genre to write?

Anything with magical elements in a real life setting.

*What is your favorite genre to read?

Fantasy or historical fiction...with magical elements.

*What is one silly fact about you?

I can touch my nose with my tongue.

*What got you started on your writing journey?

The characters in my head who wouldn’t stop taking over my brain. And the random lady at church who told me I should write a book.

*Why do you choose to write clean/sweet romance? Do you write steamy romance as well?

No steam for me :) I choose clean romance because sometimes the most romantic moments are the ones without much physical touch.

*What other things do you have planned with your writing for the next year or so?

REVISIONS! I have written several books and have only polished a few. But I want to fix them and get them out there! I love the characters and stories, they just need to grow and have some room to breathe.

*How many books have you written, and how many of those have been published?

I’ve written 7, published 1.

Hence the year of revisions.

*What are the elements of a great romance for you?

Tension. Overcoming difficulties to deepen a relationship. Great conversations to make the attraction realistic. A few touches. And at least one or two great kisses!

*Use no more than two sentences. Why should we read your book?

It’s emotionally driven, has conflicted characters, and includes some of those great romantic moments. It also provides a glimpse into the life of someone with cystic fibrosis and half of the proceeds go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

*Do you have a favorite character you have written so far?

In Changing Fate it would have to be Kate. She’s so complex emotionally, physically, and mentally. I enjoyed getting to know her so that everyone else could understand her better.
