In For a Pound

Joselyn Vaughn
Contemporary Romance

"Sidney deserved someone special. Although, he based his evaluation only on her ability to make apple pie and bring it to him. "

Sidney Walker has everything planned out.  She and her fiance will win the canoe races, win her dream honeymoon which will follow a sensible wedding so they can afford a fixer-upper and live quietly and happily ever after.  That is, until Colin ditches her during the second race, and her friend thrusts the delightful Joshua into her boat.  As the wedding nears, Colin seems to be changing more and more.  Can Sidney deal with this new distracted Colin, or will she find herself distracted as well?  Joshua Pounds doesn't want to put down roots - ever.  If being in disaster recovery has taught him anything, it's that home and savings and family can be ripped apart too easily to risk the heartache.  Things change when he takes on the care of his father during chemo, and finds himself being thrust into the role of partner, friend, confidant...and suddenly wanting more with someone he can't have.

My Opinion:  This was a fun and cute book, with some new and interesting twists, making it stand out in a crowd.  Sidney is a grounded character, almost to a fault as her focus gives her a bit of tunnel vision.  She is real, and relatable, though.  Joshua is a wonderfully charming and flawed hero.  Their romance is fun and sweet and stilted and anxious.  I loved the side characters who really both filled in the scenes, but added to the plot with their own storylines.  It stretched perhaps a tad long, but in the end was a fully satisfying book and a good adventure in love and life.  Would recommend this one.

I received a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.
