His Kind of Cowgirl

Karen Rock
Contemporary Romance

"Obnoxious, infuriating, arrogant, pestilence of a man."

Claire's dealt with enough heartache to last a lifetime.  After the loss of her husband, the man who saved her from the darkest time in her life, she takes her son to live with her father to help sell the family farm.  What she doesn't need is to have anything to do with her ex, a man she has to protect both her secrets and her heart from.  Her father, however, has other ideas.  Tanner Haynes can't keep doing the rodeo - his recent injury evidence of that.  Plus, a lack of judgement leaves him without any savings.  When Claire's father asks him for a favor, he can't refuse.  The chance to be around Claire is a nice bonus, especially when he finds that he never stopped loving her.  But can he get past all that's happened?  And what about the secret she's hiding?

My Opinion: This was an interesting book that tackled some tough scenarios.  The concepts of dealing with past love, life changing secrets, real love and loss - they all mesh together in what could be a ticking bomb, but rather turns into a sweet story of love, understanding, and a dose of dealing with reality.  Claire is a fierce character, with strong opinions born from grasping at control in her life that rarely has bee.  Tanner is intent on holding onto the things that make him happy, even when those things might change.  The chemistry between them is good, with realistic ups and downs.  The story really hones in on the four main characters, but is richly rounded out by them in their very different personalities.  Overall a good read.

I received a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.
