The Peculiar Princess

Christina Graham Parker
Time-Travel Romance
Christian Romance

"I find nothing even slightly romantic about being slaughtered by a man named Severon."

Lexy Newbury was adopted and now lives her life in blissful ignorance of who her real parents were.  That is, until one day she is sent back in time to find out that all she thought she knew about them was wrong.  They didn't just give her up - they sent her forward in time.  Because Lexy was born hundreds of years in the past, during the middle of a war....as a princess.  With the help of her parent's once trusted servant, she must new decide if she is willing to retake her birthright, and just what she is willing to do in order to get it.  But the inclusion of Lord Lukas Reynard is interrupting her plans, and her thoughts.  Can they find a way to work together, or does he hold another, darker, secret that could shatter Lexy's world again?  This time for good?

My Opinion: This was an interesting story, though it often became distracted as it followed many avenues for the story.  The heroine was not my favorite, seeming to have no real basis for her actions and motivation to actually do anything.  The hero, however, was an awesome character.  Though sometimes flawed, he revealed a great deal of humanity and offered a glimpse into his soul that was missing in our girl.  Their romance is good and I found myself alternately cheering and crying for them.  Definitely a wonderful romance.  The side characters were few, but seemed to frame our protagonists well.  The plot needed a bit more drive and action for me, rather than so much focus on the fairly preachy Christian plot.  Though as I said, the romance itself was delightful.

I received a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.
