Not Your Average Fairy Tale

"I shook my head.  I was not checking out a fairy."

Ash Summerland is almost ready to graduate from The Academy of Magical Beings.  All that is left is his internship.  Anxious to be a Sandman, he is more than disappointed to be assigned as a Fairy....a Fairy Godmother, that is.  Forced to grant three wishes to his human assignment, he wants to get it done as fast as possible.  There is nothing less manly than wings and a wand.  But Kendall doesn't want any wishes, and she certainly doesn't believe in happily-ever-after anymore.  Not since the accident.  And no matter how cute her new fairy godmother is, she wants nothing to do with him.  As circumstances force them together they might find there is more to each other, and this whole situation, that either of them thought.

My Opinion: This was a wonderful, young adult romance with characters that you will love.  Although you see both perspectives, it almost seems as if Ash is the main character - a new twist for most romances.  Both he and Kendall are well developed characters that actually act like teenagers.  A well developed plot actually gave me a few surprises along the way and made me anxious to turn every page.  The romance is fun and has the kind of toe-curling that makes us all pick up a good young adult book now and again.   Side characters were fun and the magical world realistic and understandable.  Overall, this was a great book and I am very anxious to read a sequel, or anything else by this author.

I received a free copy of this book to review.  No other compensation was given.  The summary and review are 100% my own.

  1. What a totally cute plot!! I love the premise.
Okay, if I had a magical power, it would be teleportation. I hate driving in traffic or driving for hours on the road.
When my children were young my wished for magical power would have been to put them to sleep whenever I wanted.

  2. This book sounds really fun so I'm excited for this giveaway.

If I had a magical power what would it be? My kids ask me this all the time--and I really like Donna's teleportation, but I think it would be speed. That's kind of like teleportation, right? LOL.
